D.O Montsant

Autòcton is a lifelong project born from the desire to recover, preserve and share the uniqueness of the native grape varieties that we are fortunate to have in Catalonia.

The project is based exclusively on estate-owned vineyards located across three great wine-growing regions: Baix Penedès, DO Montsant and DOQ Priorat.

Through 100% single-varietal wines, we aim to express the character of our old vineyards and show how each grape variety can reflect the uniqueness of its climate, soils, history and cultural heritage.

Following Autòcton Blanc 100% Xarel·lo and Gran Autòcton Negre 100% Sumoll from Baix Penedès, the project continues with a new wine that represents the essence of Montsant.

Autòcton Negre Carinyena Montsant is made from 100% Carignan, sourced from vineyards over 45 years old within the 42 hectares of estate-owned vineyards that we cultivate in DO Montsant.

The vineyards are planted at altitudes ranging from 250 to 400 metres, on poor, calcareous and clay soils. These conditions naturally limit yields, allowing us to produce a wine with depth, freshness and a strong sense of identity.

The wine is aged for 12 months in 300-litre French oak barrels, between 1 and 4 years old, with the aim of preserving the true character of the Carignan grape and the authentic expression of its terroir.
