      Albert Jan\u00e9, a native of El Vendrell, is a young winemaker who comes from a family that has been involved in the world of wine since 1914. He left his own land, Baix Pened\u00e8s, moving first to D.O. Montsant and then also to the DOQ Priorat, and is now returning home to start his life-long and most personal project in Mas Vilella, his family\u2019s estate.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

      The AUT\u00d2CTON brand (meaning \u2018Native\u2019 in Catalan) has been registered since 2007 as Albert was certain that one day he would return to his own land to make wine and work to improve the prestige of its region, getting the best from the local varieties.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

      This is a life-long project to restore and give back the dignity to the varieties that belong to Albert\u2019s native region; varieties such as Sumoll, Xarel\u00b7lo, Xarel\u00b7lo Vermell, Malvasia de Sitges are particularly important.
      \nThe idea is to revive the Sumoll reds from a time when this variety was grown in the Baix Pened\u00e8s and half of Catalonia and which Albert's great-grandfather was already extensively producing in the early 19th century.
      \nBecause they grow in the very poor, stony soils typical of the Baix Pened\u00e8s and the Alt Camp, surrounded by dry stone borders and huts, the vines suffer and produce little fruit.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
